After recently purchasing their new home, this family knew exactly what they wanted: to transform every corner into a space that felt like theirs. Their vision was bold — converting the front porch into a heated mudroom, revamping the main floor bathroom, and completely gutting and rebuilding the basement with upgraded insulation, a cozy new fireplace, a stylish bathroom, custom laundry cabinets, heated floors, and lighting everywhere you’d want it.

This 1970s home had great potential, but the finishes and layout no longer supported the way this family wanted to live. The basement, in particular, was dark, uninviting, and not at all suited for entertaining or relaxing. Our goal? Turn it into a warm, welcoming extension of their home — a place they’d want to enjoy every day.

🔨 From Cold & Dated to Warm & Welcoming

The existing basement was original to the home and needed a complete overhaul to bring it up to modern standards of comfort and energy efficiency. That meant starting from scratch.

We removed everything down to the foundation and began the process of rebuilding:

We broke up the concrete to relocate plumbing for the new bathroom layout.
All new framing was completed to accommodate upgraded Rockwool insulation for improved thermal performance and sound control.
The entire space received a full electrical rewire, ensuring safety and allowing for tons of strategically placed lighting.
To combat that classic cold-basement feel, we installed an insulated subfloor system, giving the homeowners a warm, comfortable foundation for their new living space.

With the foundation of the space rebuilt, the fun could begin. One of the standout features of the renovation is the new Marquis Enclave 48″ linear fireplace, which instantly adds ambiance and warmth. Whether hosting friends or settling in for a movie night, this fireplace becomes the heart of the space.

The new 3-piece basement bathroom features heated floors, clean lines, and durable materials, creating both comfort and long-term reliability. We installed a Wedi shower base and waterproofing system, and finishes that match the modern, warm look of the rest of the renovation.

To finish it off, we added recessed LED lighting throughout the entire basement, giving the family the flexibility to create the perfect mood — bright for gatherings or soft for relaxing evenings.

The main floor bathroom received its own complete gut and rebuild. This included:

A 4′ wide Wedi shower system with a 15-year warranty
